It is clear to me that my calling is to teach directly from the Bible in an expository style. That means understanding that every word is God’s authoritative Holy Word, it reflects the heart, mind and will of God, and we are to respect and teach God’s Word exactly as God wrote it, and exactly what He meant to say. My number one job as the pastor is to teach the Word of God and to prepare people to be active in ministry.
It's God's job to grow the church.
I have been in Christian ministry since 1983. At Huntington University (HU) I earned a Bachelors in Bible and Religion, and a Masters in Christian Ministries. I was employed by HU for 8 years. Upon leaving HU, I served as a business manager in Sierra Leone, West Africa for the United Brethren Denomination.
Over the years, it has been a blessing to lead several oversea mission trips to places such as Sierra Leone, Jamaica, and Haiti. I served as Pastor at Mount Olivet from 1995-2002 and returned as Pastor in 2019. We love Mount Olivet and pray that God allows us to remain here until we get promoted to heaven.
I have an amazing and lovely wife, Chrissy, and we have a total of 4 children, John, Rachel, Cameron and Blake; and we have been blessed with 5 grandchildren.
Coffee is a must, I hate any food that jiggles...like jello and pudding; love homemade raspberry pie (hint hint). I enjoy gardening and working in my greenhouse. I also enjoy challenges, so you can find me at home working on all kinds of new projects.
Chrissy and I enjoy biking, hiking and traveling. We also take our health and wellness very seriously as we believe that our body is a temple, and you must have balance between the body, mind and spirit.
It is such a blessing to serve in ministry at Mount Olivet, we truly have seen God work in the life of this church. We appreciate the opportunity to serve alongside so many wonderful and godly people!
My love of numbers, planning and office supplies led me to pursue higher education in accounting and business management. I have worked in finance for seven years from the private sector to banking and school district finance.
My husband Brian and I have two beautiful children. We can often be found enjoying the outdoors in the garden or taking evening walks down our farm lane (in ideal mid-seventy degree, sunny weather) or at our children’s extracurricular activities.
The aroma of essential oils and the sound of worship music fill my heart, home and office. I feel blessed by the opportunity to serve Mount Olivet Church as treasurer.
